Many families have First World War medals awarded to their relatives,
many lurking rather neglected in drawers and boxes. There is no reason
why current family members should not wear these medals on appropriate
occasions – indeed they are encouraged to do so on Armed Forces Day and
Remembrance Sunday. They should be worn on the right breast with
pride. If there is a family story of their forebear’s involvement in
the First World War, why not share it by posting it to ww1@carisbrookecastlemuseum.org.uk and it will be placed on this website.
