All quiet on the Western Front

This is a Classic First World war book.  Written from a german perspective: four classmates who goaded by their schoolmaster, volunteered for the German army in 1914, full of youthfull enthusiasm and optimism.  It is the story of men in the war which can be mirrored by millions of their compatriots - on all sides, who start with fire and patriotism then experiencing the horror and disillusionment of life in the trenches.

One by one the boys begin to fall....

An easy book to read it should be required reading for anyone studying the First World War.
