World War I an Illustrated History

This book does what it says on the cover: lots of photographs, pictures, diagrammes and maps.  It is published in association with The Royal British Legion. It follows a logical progression from the political and military manouvering in early 1914 through to the Armistice.  The story is lavishly illustrated throughout with excellent descriptions of each of the illustrations while the text continues to form a background to every page.  There are many quotes from biographies and useful brief potted histories of people and events that are shown.  A book for the general reader and one that immerses him in a gripping tale which is both sad and facinating.
